Why the name of "Aviateurs" (pilots) ?

Restaurant and guesthouse dates back to the early 1900’s. It was known as "Le restaurant de la plage" (The Beach Restaurant). This property is one of the oldest in the Baie de Somme and represents one of the last evidence of the heroic period - between 1910 and 1928 - of aircraft industry's pioneers.

Indeed; the famous René and Gaston Caudron brothers who created the first French flying school on the beach of Le Crotoy where regular used to meet with collaborators, trainee pilots, customers, competitors… all those sharing their passion of flying.

Most of the furniture in the restaurant, bar and tables, are genuine antiques. A significant collection of original photographs as well as models and reproductions of posters illustrate the glorious time of these "Avionneurs" (Aviators).
